Ohio University offers Associate of Arts degrees emphasizing in Social Sciences or Arts and Humanities. Each degree encompasses 30 credit hours in the specified field and 15 credit hours of the unspecified. At least 36 elective credit hours and 15 credit hours of natural science, applied science, and quantitative skills are also required.

Requirements

Undergraduate: enrollment in independent study courses is open to anyone who can profit from the learning. Enrollment in a course does not constitute formal admission to Ohio University or any of its degree programs. Degree-seeking students must have a high school diploma to be admitted to the External Student Program; transfer students must have a min. 2.0 cumulative GPA. Admission to the External Student Program does not guarantee admission to any on-campus degree program.

Arts and Humanities Degrees, Programs, and Courses

Ohio University was established in 1804, making it the oldest public institution in Ohio and the first of the Northwest Territory. OU currently enrolls over 16,000 undergraduates on the Athens campus and another 1,000 students from other countries. The 1,756 acre campus is comprised of 200 buildings, 41 of which are residential halls, and 33 fraternities and sororities. The student to faculty ratio is 20:1 driven by over 850 full time faculty, enabling the average class size to be 25 students.
