Business Degrees Degrees, Programs, and Courses
Southern Oregon University spent its first 87 years as a teacher education institution. In 1956 it took on the moniker Southern Oregon University, reflecting its new role as a multipurpose institution serving the state through instruction, research, and public service. One of only eight members of the Oregon University System, in 1984 SOU branched out in a new direction: distance learning. Initially consisting of only regional public broadcasting and PBS video courses, the program now uses a 2-way interactive video system, linking faculty to sites throughout southwestern Oregon. New technology is continually integrated into the program, demonstrating SOU's commitment to being a leader in the distance learning field.
