Medical Assisting
The Medical Assisting program at Mountain State University represents general studies in the humanities, business, and the natural sciences including preparation for clinical and administrative health care positions. MA positions often include such tasks as reception, appointment scheduling, medical coding and transcribing, computer use, taking patient histories, taking and recording vital signs, medication administration, assisting the physician with minor procedures, venipuncture, and giving injections. The MA program is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Requirements
Undergraduate: Open admission policy, high school diploma or equivalency, application and fee, transcripts from previously attended institution(s).

Mountain State University was founded as a private, non-profit establishment in 1933 during the Great Depression. In the beginning they sought to provide affordable, quality education for the youth of southern West Virginia. Today Mountain State University offers bachelor and graduate programs while continuing to honor their founding philosophy that every individual should have the opportunity to obtain an education to maximize their potential. In 1995 the School of Extended Distance Learning was founded. It offers numerous degree programs for those with active lifestyles and schedules.
