The first commencement in May 1927 included an operetta and a pageant in honor of the first fourteen graduates. TTU’s faculty is dedicated to the maturation of critical thinking skills and problem solving and awareness skills.

Software Engineering
The Texas Tech University Computer Science program offers a Master of Science in Software Engineering degree. Since 1999 the program has gave graduates a firm foundation in the definition, development, and maintenance of software systems. The MSSE program has thesis and non thesis options that require the same course structure in the current BS, MS, and PhD programs in Computer Science.
