History

The University of Houston History Department offers a Bachelor of Arts in History degree that will provide individuals with the credentials they need to effectively pursue a career in many different fields, or to continue on to advanced graduate studies. Through developing research skills and critical thinking techniques, the curriculum stresses an awareness of various cultures throughout history. Students are provided a broad foundational education and are taught to examine the world with a deeper understanding of historical events.

Requirements

Undergraduate: application, official high school diploma/college transcripts TASP, SAT/ACT. Graduate: graduate application, reference letters, official test scores (requirements vary/program), 2 official transcripts from each institution; refer to Graduate and Professional Studies catalog or consult major department before applying. Online Social Science Degrees

Established in 1927, The University of Houston implemented distance education in 1980 via two off-campus institutes. Continuing the evolution in 1984, they added live closed-circuit televised classes. Distance Education courses are offered to four off-campus sites, thirteen community colleges, via television (cable, PBS), videotape, and live teleconferencing. The DE programs offer eighty-five courses and enrolled over 7,000 students.
