DEGREES.COM LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE EDUCATION DIRECTORY
Students Have Expanded Resource for Online Education
Los Angeles, CA, December 5, 2005 – Degrees.com (www.degrees.com) announced today that it had launched a free online directory of degree and certificate programs. As a premier source of information about post-secondary schools, Degrees.com partners with an extensive array of high-quality accredited institutions to supply accurate and useful information about their traditional campus and online programs, certificates and degrees.
The consumer-friendly Web portal helps potential students locate and compare degrees, programs and related services, including undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees, online degree programs, vocational schools, and professional certifications. The site will be expanded to include useful information about financing an education, preparing for college, and studying for entrance exams.
“Potential students, such as working adults who do not have a lot of time, can find the best offering in a particular field in one place instead of visiting numerous websites, noted Ken Hayes, General Manager of Degrees.com. “The user can browse by school, degree level, or subject matter. For students who want to complete their degree or for those seeking to enhance their career through continued education, Degrees.com provides comprehensive information for everyone.
Along with its new student portal, Degrees.com specializes in lead generation programs, connecting quality student prospects to post-secondary educational institutions.
Responding to the growing trend in lead generation among post-secondary institutions, Hayes said, “All schools – even traditional, non-profit academic institutions – need to learn how to attract the right students using online marketing techniques. Eduventures’ research has found that the costs to market and advertise to potential students are rapidly escalating. They estimate that more than 40% of these schools’ promotional budgets now go to connecting with students through Internet channels, including online education directories (OEDs). Schools need professional partners that provide consumer-friendly, search-driven services along with quality traffic sources and scalability, complete lead information, and filtering mechanisms.
The company is a silver sponsor of the Eduventures’ Competing in Higher Education show that is being held on the West Coast for the first time at the Omni Hotel in Los Angeles on
December 7-9, 2005. Some 150 of the West Coast’s leading educators and educational executives are expected to attend. Degrees.com is also sponsoring free mobile connectivity for all participants.
